WHO HISTORY
Founded in 1997 by Chicago native Robert Rainey, Nabru was born from a need to address high unemployment and limited career pathways for young African American graduates. Robert, a recent college grad himself, envisioned a platform where young professionals could use their education to uplift their communities.
Since its founding, Nabru has:
-
Helped youth and grads gain work experience through community service
-
Partnered with schools, churches, and local organizations across Chicago
-
Launched the Annual Father’s Day Picnic in 2016 to build community and raise scholarship funds
More than two decades later, Nabru remains committed to changing a person’s situation — not their location.

MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
At the heart of Nabru’s mission is a team of passionate leaders, educators, and mentors who believe in the potential of every young person.
